Conservatories and glass rooms have many similarities but are also fundamentally very different. Both require a lot of decision making on behalf of the homeowner and both can be a great home addition – it just depends on what you are hoping to achieve. Here are some points to consider:
- Glass rooms require less planning and work. They often won’t require planning permission to construct and can be built very quickly.
- Conservatories require more work. They need to have a solid structure and will need a rooflight or sky lantern to be fitted, making them more labour intensive.
- Both kinds of room are a wonderful way to brighten up your home. They let in much more light than a standard room, making your interior space much brighter.
- Glass rooms tend to offer better views. They are usually frameless and can give panoramic views of the outdoors. Conservatories have a more solid structure.
